Ian Walsh - Owner
Ian began his accountancy career in 1991 in a 2 partner firm in Jesmond. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant and set up his own Practice in 2001. Through internal growth the opportunity came to expand and Ian is now responsible for the whole practice, the training and welfare of the staff and the expectations of all the clients. When not working Ian enjoys spending time with the family, manages to play football once a week and has a keen interest in motorsport.
Dean Fenton - Practice Manager
Dean began his accountancy career in 1987 and has a proven track record of servicing clients at the very highest level. He manages the Practice and takes responsibilty for all aspects of the firm from a client point of view. In his spare time Dean enjoys football, eating out, spending time with the family and DIY.
Jamie Jefferson - Chartered Accountant (ACCA) - New Client Manager
Jamie joined the firm in 2012 as a Trainee Accounts Assistant and gained his AAT qualification in 2015. Jamie then went on to qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) in 2018. He handles all new client referrals and also works closely alongside his diverse portfolio of current clients by providing a wide range of accounting and taxation services.
Outside of work, Jamie has a keen interest in football, cricket and horse racing. He also enjoys travelling with his partner and long walks with his dog, Douggie.
Jamie - Office Manager
Jamie began her career in 2008 and has been with us throughout. She passed AAT examinations and will be working towards her Chartered qualification alongside the training contract offered by Walsh & Co. Jamie is responsible for the workload coming into the Practice and manages the jobs on a day to day basis. When not working Jamie likes reading, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
Dale - Accounts senior
Dale has been with us since 1992. He is an accounts senior and responsible for accounts preparation and related tax work. He has always been efficient in managing his workload and progresses through jobs in a timely manner while dealing with all the ad-hoc requests that the day always throws up. Outside of work Dale is Secretary of Ashington cricket club and he has a keen interest in most sports.
Claire - Accounts Senior
Claire began her career in 2002 and has been with us since then. She was pivotal in training up Junior members of staff and continues to be involved in accounts preparation, Taxation work and VAT Returns. Outside the office Claire enjoys spending time with her family and watching rugby.
Chris - Payroll Manager
Chris began working in payroll in 1984 and has seen many changes to the role in that time. She joined us in 2004 and more recently managed the integration of RTI reporting in such a way that our clients had very little to worry about in terms of filing deadlines. She continues to manage and maintain the whole payroll department whilst assisting in the day to day office management too. In her spare time Chris enjoys Swimming, Walking and Zumba.
Connall - VAT, CIS and Accounts preparation
Connall joined us in 2015 and immediately took to the training we provided him. He is progressing well through his AAT exams and hopes to go on to sit the ACCA exams. He is very IT literate and looks after the online filing and cloud based accounting whilst completing the regular VAT and CIS returns. He also makes use of HMRC webchat facility to gain quicker answers to our queries. In his spare time Connall plays rugby and enjoys adrenaline sports.
Lauren - Accounts preparartion and office administration
Lauren began her career in 2011 and has benefitted greatly from the training we have given her. She has progressed rapidly and works well on both manual records and computerised accounts. She looks after the day to day administration of the office and does a great job ensuring the office runs smoothly and effeciently. Outside of work Lauren likes to read, go to the movies and she volunteers in a local charity shop.
Daniel – VAT and Accounts preparation
Daniel joined us in 2019 and is making good progress through the training we are providing him. He assists in the VAT and accounts preparation and deals with ad-hoc tasks as they come into the office. Recently these have included the Furlough submissions and also the preparation work for our new DocSafe portal. In his spare time Daniel enjoys football, spending time with his family and going on dog walks.
